Wheel Alignment
If your car is pulling to one side, your steering wheel sits off-centre, or your tyres are wearing unevenly, wheel alignment is often the cause. Getting your wheels properly aligned keeps your car handling as it should and helps your tyres last as long as they’re meant to.
Alignment can be knocked out by something as simple as hitting a pothole or kerb, so it’s not always down to age or wear.
We use two-wheel laser wheel alignment equipment to measure your car’s alignment precisely against the manufacturer’s specification. This gives us accurate readings for camber, toe and other alignment angles, rather than relying on estimation.
If adjustment is needed, we correct the alignment to bring it back within the correct range, then recheck the readings to confirm everything is set properly before handing the car back to you. Where alignment issues are being caused by worn or damaged suspension components rather than the alignment itself, we’ll flag this too, since realigning a car with underlying suspension problems won’t fix the issue for long.
Not every workshop has invested in laser alignment equipment, and without it, alignment becomes a rough approximation rather than an accurate correction. Getting it right the first time protects your tyres from premature wear, which can otherwise cost you far more than the alignment itself over time.
The clearest signs are the car pulling to one side, an off-centre steering wheel, or uneven tyre wear. If you’ve recently hit a pothole or kerb hard, it’s worth getting checked even without obvious symptoms.
There’s no fixed interval, since it depends on road conditions and driving. It’s worth checking whenever you notice symptoms, after fitting new tyres, or after any significant impact with a kerb or pothole.
Alignment will stop the wear from getting worse and protect any new tyres you fit, but it won’t reverse wear that’s already occurred on existing tyres.
Misaligned wheels can create extra rolling resistance, which may have a small effect on fuel economy alongside the more noticeable impact on handling and tyre wear.
Cost depends on your vehicle and whether it’s a two-wheel or four-wheel alignment. Get in touch with your registration details and we’ll confirm pricing before you book in.
